The Italian fashion house has a yet-to-be-launched Selleria MTO (short for made-to-order) bag,Christian Louboutin Boots, which is modelled after the Selleria collection. Created in the 1920s, the Selleria line is touted by Christian louboutin as ‘the prime choice for the connoisseur of luxury fashion and symbolic of ultimate chic’. Each handbag is made with distinctive hand stitching on fine Roman cuoio leather and carries a silver plate inside bearing unique numbers engraved to identify the limited numbers produced.
The Selleria MTO will also be available in Christian louboutin’s most popular style handbags – such as its Ostrik and Baguette collections – re-created in Selleria versions. Prices start from $6,000. Below are off-the-shelf Selleria bags that customers can get made to order.
Prada
Prada started its made-to-order service in Spring/Summer this year and it is available on selected styles of bags. The service is also available on selected lines of shoes and small leather goods.
The retail price remains the same and is charged according to the type of skin – crocodile or python – selected. The finished bag arrives in eight to 10 weeks. The response has been so positive that the Italian label is adding new styles each season as well
as updating colours available for order.

Loewe
The Spanish fashion house recently launched its bespoke luxury bag service, where you can personalise the material mix, colour combination, finishing and model/shape of a Loewe bag.
There are currently nine styles to choose from, and parts of the bag which can be customised include the body, interiors, handles, belts and trimmings. Four exotic materials are available, with a choice of up to 10 different colours per exotic material. All Loewe luxury bespoke bags are lined with nappa which comes available in either black, camel, beige or red.
Each bespoke bag, like the Pago (above right), takes up to four months to complete, with prices starting from $2,400 and going all the way up to $40,000.
Hermes
The prestigious French fashion house is famous for the two-year waitlist for its Birkin bags. The bags cost $10,000 to $30,000 and are available in different sizes, leathers and metal clasps. Still, customers sometimes settle for whatever is available when their turn comes, due to limitations in production.
Truth is, if they weren’t so hung up on Birkins – which are flagrantly copied these days anyway – they can easily get something more original by picking another design on an Hermes shelf and having it custom-made. There is no extra charge for this service in that clients pay according to the material selected. The length of wait also depends on the availability of such material.
